There are two basic methods of transplantation:
- FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)
- FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant)- "Strip" technique (which is the least effective)
Depending on the different operative approaches and equipment used both in the first stage (harvesting donor material) and in the second (implantation), FUE is classified in the following categories:
- Automated (vacuum-assisted) – AVA FUE technique
- Motorized FUE technique
- Manual FUE technique
These methods differ significantly in terms of effectiveness: the differences refer basically to the quality of the harvested donor material (grafts), their implantation technique and the speed of the procedure.
